Ikhono LaseNatali is a project initiated by Sir Professor Zanele Muholi and curated by Dr Bajabulile La Dhlamini Sidzumo and Thobeka Bhengu. Presented by Muholi Productions, the exhibition at A4 is the second instance of the initiative, wherein 25 young artists from Durban reinterpret the artist’s Somnyama Ngonyama. The first iteration opened in Kwazulu-Natal in May 2019.

In addition to the exhibition, the project entails a wide-reaching exchange with schools in the Western Cape and aims to challenge youth to consider the tenets of inclusivity, creativity and collectivism.

Programming for the exhibition includes facilitated engagements and workshops with learners from inner-city schools, Lalela, LEAP, and Early Birds Learning Centre.
