Listening to a Listening is a collaborative, experiential sound performance by Memory Biwa and Robert Machiri that explores the relationship between the sound of language and the language of sound. Presenting two archives from different spaces and times – mbira music archives on vinyl recorded in Zimbabwe in 2015 and 1950s linguistic voice recordings from Namibia – Biwa and Machiri investigate the transnational relationship between languages, instruments and sound technology.
