EQUALITY FOR ALL! National Coalition for Gay & Lesbian Equality (front)
"No person shall be unfairly discriminated against on the grounds of race, gender, sex ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture or language." – The South African Interim Constitution (back)

Formerly named the National Coalition for Gay and Lesbian Equality (NCGLE), The Lesbian and Gay Equality Project (LGEP) centres on the expansion of LGBT rights in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded by Zackie Achmat in 1994, LGEP successfully lobbied for the inclusion of sexual orientation as a basis for non-discrimination laws in South Africa. LGEP continued to operate after South Africa’s legalisation of same-sex marriage in 2006, its advocacy including “law reform, lobbying, litigation, advocacy, employment equity, leadership training and development.”
