GAYS against apartheid OLGA ORGANISATION OF LESBIAN AND GAY ACTIVISTS (front)

The Organisation of Lesbian and Gay Activists (OLGA), originally Lesbians and Gay Against Oppression (LAGO), was a Cape Town-based organisation which was formed in October 1987 to place the issue of lesbian and gay rights on the agenda of the struggle for a non-racial, democratic South Africa. OLGA was affiliated with the United Democratic Front (UDF) and sent suggestions for a more inclusive constitution to the African National Congress (ANC). While OLGA was founded by predominantly white gays and lesbians, it had an interracial membership. OLGA was dissolved in 1994.
